For #1, I used the burn tool. After the picture was burnt, it looked like the tealight was so lonely, so I added the words in the photo.
For #2, I purposely included that lady sitting at the opposite table of me. But my main focus is still on the teapot, that contained my Dobinmushi inside. :)

Your first shot is great! Just need to keep the tealight more level with the horizon. Good title and subject!
You should use a larger aperture to throw the background more out of focus so as to bring more attention to the pot.
For the second shot, try not to have distractive objects behind your main subject. It looks like there is something poking out of the pot. Pay more attention to the background and you can achieve a better shot.
